Reedbeds on green
Bold, abstract lines command attention at first glance, creating a palpable movement and tension. Rendered in stark black and white, this work offers a compelling visual experience rooted in high contrast and organic forms. Intricately carved patterns traverse the surface, suggesting a rich exploration of each curve and angle. The artist's voice emerges through careful technique, reflecting deep engagement with nature and form. Each line and segment represents a deliberate choice, revealing the hidden complexity within the apparent minimalism of the composition. Take a moment to delve into the textured landscape of this piece. What narratives and emotions unfold as you consider the convergence of these powerful forms and intricate details?
The Bioregional project that has developed the Saltmarsh project has totally enthralled me. I have worked from gel prints of reed bed leaves to produce some linocuts. I am using a small studio based hand press and water based inks.
I have added some extra images here to let you see my simple process.
On this print I have used Kitakata green paper from the Japanese Awagami factory and I am very happy with the outcome.
