In Deep
Having visited the Dalmatian coast for the first time I was transfixed by the beautiful waters. I am making a body of work based on my visit and will be adding more. I shall be printing and doing more mixed drawing and paintings to provide a sense of place. on this piece I thoroughly enjoyed working in layers of texture, adding gesso and fixing in layers. I think some of these may work well together, I used a mock up image to give an idea.
How does one portray the essence of motion within a still medium? This arrangement harnesses a complex relationship of light and color to suggest fluidity. Dominated by cerulean blue hues and intricate variations in texture, the work mimics the undulating movement of water. Layers of color and dark strokes create a feeling of dimensionality, with light accents illuminating the crests and furrows. The technique, likely a combination of wet-on-wet washes and dry brush applications, lends a tactile quality to the surface. The overall impact leaves the viewer exploring the myriad shades and textures that combine into a visually engaging whole.
